Are there consultants who specialize in how to get a business started initially?
I have a business plan. However, I feel as though I need a business plan FOR the business plan. For the simple reason that the business model itself is new, I need a way to do the intial targeting of customers.
I’m not really looking for a company who can print literature and build websites. I am looking for a company or person who can figure out how to connect my new concept with customers.
I guess I’m looking for a hybrid between a business plan writer and a marketing expert.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

There are many consultants who work in this field (I’m one of them). But there are also some online and free places you can go to check out your business plan. I’m from Vancouver, Canada and our local government has a good website for starting businesses (I’m sure lots of the American and Canadian sites offer good advice). I’ve listed the site in the source box, and also listed my website for more information on small business selling, planning, marketing and strategy.

You can pay someone to do it or you can pay someone to guide you while you do it. Your choice!
Of course, I recommend the second one because you know your product better and you just need their knowledge and expertise which is easier to pass on than the product’s specific characteristics!
