Do MBA’s prepare you to write business plans?

business plans

I would like to start my own business some day and am also considering enrolling in an MBA program. Do MBAs teach how to write business plans or would I need to enroll in an MBA program with an Entrepreneurship specialization?

One Response to “Do MBA’s prepare you to write business plans?”

          • Albert A says:

A MBA will allow you to study in depth the theories (including writing business plans) of business at the masters level, and also, leadership and decision making for upper management. It lack the motivation and spur for entrepreneurs wannabe. Meaning to say, it does not really pack the mindset and motivation you need to be an entrepreneur.

I would recommend you to take up the MBA as a means to build up a solid business foundation, then take up an additional course in entrepreneurship. However, I feel that entrepreneurism can be self taught by intereacting with entrepreneurs and doing extensive reading. It is ironical for a university professor to be preaching entrepreneurism when he is an employee of the university himself. Afterall, entrepreneurship is all about the mentality and mindset of the individual, and not about how many papers you’ve earned.

I wish you luck in your entrepreneurial endeavours! =)
